air fresheners
i have an air freshener for my room. it sits on top of some papers on the top level of my three-tiered inbox type thing. while i sit here i can smell it. if i look to my right the smell is gone. it literally does nothing to enhance the scent of my room. it doesn't fight odor, i don't even think it's got the power to call odor names or make fun of its mom. what's more is that even being some two and half feet away it's giving me a headache. sure it smells pleasant, but it's a lukewarm pleasant because it's giving me a headache which isn't fully awesome. not a bad headache, it's bearable, but it's just enough slight discomfort to be pesky. it's not to the point yet where i need to take some advil or anything, again i can just look to the right for a breath of fresh air, or at least as fresh as my room can be, i mean i did buy an air freshener in the first place.
if it were time for advil though you can be sure that when it came time to get those magic pills out they'd be loud as hell coming out of the bottle. they just hit each other against the hard plastic shell of the bottle and make such a racket that it actually makes the warranting headache even that much more annoying. if they came in a wooden or cardboard type bottle it would probably deaden the sound a bit more. at first thought it sounds a little unsanitary, but when you think about it "what do those small old people, variety pack of mini-sized hershey's chocolates come in?" they come in paper that has a light, outer foil coating. it's just paper. i guess those come in a plastic bag though, but still.
i'm not sure why i haven't just moved the air freshener somewhere else.
