so i'm going to try to blog more, so in the spirit of getting in the habit... i'm re-using a past entry that i really like.
"10 minutes",
wow, so i've been meaning to write you to thank you, but i've just been so busy, well, you know that better than most i'm sure.
you really helped me out thursday morning when i was late to work. i had to tell my boss i was going to be late and you were the first interval that came to mind that would give me enough time to get to work without being longer and feeling like i lied.
you're actually the best interval to use because "5 minutes" is a little too short and just not enough time in most cases. "15 to 20 minutes" is kind of a jerk because usually they end up being closer to "25 to 30 minutes." you just seem to be the right amount of time though. most things worth declaring a time for tend to take only "10 minutes" anyways, for example:
"come on, let's get a bite to eat, it will only take 10 minutes."
"hey, i'm going to go take a shower, i'll just be 10 minutes."
"please honey, it'll only take 10 minutes."
really, to get down to it, i just want to thank you for being there, because as a general rule of thumb you are always there for me. very rarely have you left me hanging; although, there was that time at the airport where my friend and i had to get to our gate or we'd miss our flight and you did kind of leave us out to dry.
"dude, come on, i haven't eaten all day and taco bell is on the way."
"no man, we really need to get to the gate."
"geeze! it's only gonna take 10 minutes!"
"we don't have 10 minutes!"
i felt a little burned, but i got over it. we ended up just going to the gate after my friend also realized that we didn't have "10 minutes," i bought him taco bell when we landed though.
i'm going to just end it here, because i'd hate to think i sat down to right a blog that would just be "10 minutes" and spend "15 to 20 minutes" on it, we know how they are.
with love,
tim yager
p.s. if you could help me out, i'd like to try and start waking up "10 minutes" earlier to prevent any habitual tardiness, dare i say "15 to 20 minutes" earlier?
